Tsum valley trek is a newly explored trekking destinations located to the west of Kathmandu valley and to the north of Gorkha district. Tsum valley is a remote and isolated mountain valley nestled between Boudha Himal and Himal Chuli to the west, Ganesh Himal to the south and Sringi Himal to the north, was explored merely in 2007 for trekking. Tsum valley is a hidden paradise and exotic corner in Nepal popular for home stay and equally popular for exploring the diverse ancient arts, Buddhist monasteries, Chhorten, mani walls each has a different story to tell.
Tsum valley is believed to be the sacred Himalayan valley, from where the Buddhism is said to have begun. Buddhist saint Milarepa and Buddhist Guru Padmasambhav believed to have mediated in the caves of the this valley, thus during the trek, you will be able to explore the mysterious caves and be amazed throughout the trail, as because, you will pass through terraced farm field, steamy forest which are full of flora and fauna including the rhododendron flower, cross a couple of mountain passes namely the Ngula Dhoj Hyang (5093 m) and Yamdro Pass (5326 m), pass through rocky and sloppy hills and no doubt that you will be overwhelmed with dazzling views of the mountains. In addition, you will also pass through beautiful villages of various ethnic groups mainly gurung, Sherpa, Tamang, Chhetri, Bramhin and others, and explore the diverse and blend of culture and rituals and no doubt be amazed with the warm and sincere hospitality of them, enjoy with the local dishes and delicacies.
Tsum valley trekking begins with one day drive from Kathmandu to Arughat in Gorkha district and continues along with Soti Khola, Machha Khola and continues through Philim, Chumling, and finally the trail takes you to Chhokangparo, the upper Tsum valley and after making an excursion around, the trail takes you back along Nile, Rachen Gompa, Dumje, Philim and finally get back to Arughat Bazaar and then catch a bus to Kathmandu.
